Dwarsligger – Park of the 21st century

By in Garden, Urbanisme

What can we imagine for the park of the 21st century? Do we need full-programmed environments to fulfill our leisure needs or are we still longing for simple contemplation while the rest of the urban landscape gets denser and faster? Close to Schiphol Airport lies an original polder that is under urbanization pressure. We imagined the park of the 21st century here, not as an autonomous plot, but as a connection of surrounding landscapes. The dunes and peat are pulled into the sober polder in order to creat some golden edges. The space within will be slowly transformed into a water machine in order to maintain the void. Within decades this space will be a rare species and the edges congested. In collaboration with BVR and Feddes|Olthof
